I think I take it for granted. My kids are smart. They don't work hard at it, they just are. School comes easily for Emily and Ben. Emily's first semester, Emily had A's and several B's. She didn't make Honor Roll. I was kind of surprised as she is always at least on Honor Roll and once even made Principal's List (all A's). If that was her best, we'd be fine with that. But, we know Emily is capable of more. She paid a little more attention in class the last semester and she got all A's, Principals List! I was so proud of my girl. It proved that if she applies herself a little more, she can achieve anything. She also got Perfect Attendance.
There are about 100 kids in her 4th grade and only 6 made principals list!
I also noticed they were all girls. Just sayin'.
At the school they are at, you don't get actual letter grades until 3rd grade. So, Ben still get's O's for Outstanding and S's for Satisfactory. He almost always gets all O's. Now, Ben's downfall is sometimes, he get's too creative. A math problem will ask him to draw a diagram and he'll take so much time doing it, that he forgets about what he was doing or that there is 20 more problems to solve in 10 minutes. We don't fault him for it. As Albert Einstein once said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution." Damn straight Einstein. Lucky for Ben, he is knowledgeable and has one heck of an imagination. Ben got Student of the Quarter and Perfect Attendance.
The verdict is still out on Noah, but I think he'll follow right in his older siblings footsteps!
